PCI Compliance Consultance
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a set of regulations designed to ensure that all companies maintain a secure environment when processing, storing or transmitting bank card information. Basically this applies to any merchant with a Merchant ID (MID).
The PCI SSC was first launched in 2006 with the goal of improving payment account security throughout the transaction. The PCI DSS is administered and managed by the PCI SSC, an independent body formed by all the major payment card companies - Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB. It is important to note, the payment companies and acquirers are responsible for enforcing compliance, not the PCI council.
PCI applies to all organizations or merchants, regardless of the transactions, that accepts, transmits or stores any cardholder data. If any customer of an organization pays the merchant directly using a debit or credit card, then the PCI DSS requirements will apply to that organisation.
